A tragic incident at Shiners Boys High School in Nakuru, Kenya, has led to the death of KCSE candidate Vincent Ngugi, who was fatally stabbed on October 26 following a fight in a dormitory cubicle. Police have arrested eight students as suspects, with five sitting their exams at Mbaruk police post and three detained at Gilgil police station. Authorities are working to determine the murder weapon, with an autopsy scheduled this week.

The altercation reportedly involved students recently returning from suspension, raising suspicions of unresolved disputes. In response, Basic Education PS Belio Kipsang called for enhanced surveillance in schools, urging teachers to stay vigilant and closely engage with students to detect potential conflicts.

A Naivasha court granted police 14 more days to hold the suspects as the investigation continues, with a mention set for November 25. The Ministry of Education is expected to review safety protocols at Shiners Boys once national exams conclude.
