Kenyatta University Offers Free Short Courses In Various It Fields For It's Students

In a time when the tertiary education sector seems to be holding on by a thread, Kenyatta University has taken the initiative to empower its students with knowledge for free. Through it's ICT Professional Training and Certification Centre, KU students can now access the following:

Introduction to Modern AI
Introduction to Data Science
Operating Systems Basics
Digital Awareness
Introduction to Cybersecurity

Now this is a school that values educating its students.

HOW TO ENROLL

To enroll, students can register using the QR code provided on the promotional poster.

A Kenyatta University student email is required during the registration process. Students can enroll in more than one course by filling out the application form again. Participants who complete the courses and the mandatory end-of-course survey will receive a certification from Cisco.

Additionally, KU, in collaboration with IBM, has launched a range of short ICT courses aimed at empowering individuals with advanced digital skills.

These courses are offered at various KU campuses, including the Main Campus, City Campus, Nakuru Campus, Embu Campus, Kitui Campus, Mombasa Campus, and Mama Ngina University College. The courses are available in full-time, part-time, and weekend-only modes to accommodate different schedules and learning preferences.

WHY IS THIS A GREAT MOVE?

The simple answer is, that the world is moving towards the digital era. But the right answer is knowledge empowers people, especially youth. Offering such courses to students for free means students get to gain interdisciplinary knowledge, enabling them to have the skills to solve problems using new more effective ways. This is what sets apart top Universities from all universities in Kenya. What am I trying to say? If KU and other universities follow this approach to promote learning and research, there may be no need to send students to study abroad since they'll have all the skills they need.
