Meta’S Q4 2024 Boom: Ai Ambitions, Soaring Revenue, And Rising Competition
Meta Platforms, Inc. has wrapped up 2024 on a high note, reporting a stellar fourth-quarter performance with an impressive revenue surge. But while the tech giant is riding a wave of financial success, a new player, DeepSeek, is making waves in the AI race, ready to shake up the ecosystem.
For Q4 2024, Meta posted a jaw-dropping $48.39 billion in revenue—a 21% jump from last year—thanks to a surge in ad impressions and higher ad prices. The company’s full-year revenue hit $164.50 billion, marking a solid 22% year-over-year growth. Expenses ticked up slightly to $25.02 billion, but free cash flow stood strong at $13.15 billion. And with $77.81 billion in reserves, Meta has plenty of fuel for its next big leap—AI.
The company’s apps—Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads—continue to dominate, boasting 3.35 billion daily active users. Threads, Meta’s answer to X (formerly Twitter), has grown rapidly, now welcoming 320 million monthly users with a million new sign-ups daily.
Mark Zuckerberg is all-in on AI, predicting that 2025 will be the year Meta AI reaches over a billion people. However, DeepSeek is emerging as a fierce rival, developing powerful AI models that could challenge OpenAI and Google.
Looking ahead, Meta expects Q1 2025 revenue to land between $39.5 billion and $41.8 billion, but the AI showdown is just beginning. The question remains—will Meta stay on top, or will DeepSeek disrupt the game?
