Safaricom has taken a significant step forward in enhancing Kenya's internet connectivity by introducing new internet speeds for both home and business users.

The announcement, made on Monday, September 23, 2024, reveals a new platinum package that delivers lightning-fast speeds of up to 1000 Mbps for KSh 20,000. This move is aimed at addressing the ever-increasing demand for faster, more reliable internet in the country.

Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa emphasized that the new package will cater to the needs of tech-savvy users, especially those involved in data-intensive activities such as 4K/8K video streaming, online gaming, large file transfers, cloud computing, and virtual reality.

"The introduction of the new speeds offers the capability of handling the most demanding online activities with ease," said Ndegwa, in a statement released by the company.

In an increasingly digital world, high-speed internet has become essential for both personal and professional use. With Kenya's economy and social fabric increasingly relying on internet-based services and entertainment, Safaricom’s move to upgrade its internet speeds is a timely response to these growing needs.

The platinum package offers a competitive edge, particularly for businesses that rely on technology to drive their operations, allowing for a more seamless and worry-free experience.

Existing customers with active subscriptions will benefit from immediate upgrades to the new speeds, ensuring that both new and loyal users can enjoy the enhanced connectivity without delay.

This new development places Safaricom in a stronger position to compete with other major internet service providers in Kenya, including Starlink, Airtel, Zuku, and Faiba.

With 1000 Mbps speeds, Safaricom now offers some of the fastest internet available in the country, surpassing Starlink's top broadband speed of 100 Mbps, though at different pricing points.
