Tatu Telecom Powers Growth With Advanced Fibre Infrastructure
Tatu Telecom, the telecommunications arm of Tatu City, has announced a major milestone: connecting more than 1,000 customers to its high-speed fibre optic network. In just three years since its inception, the company has installed an impressive 85,000 meters of fibre optic cable infrastructure, reinforcing its dedication to providing world-class connectivity in Tatu City’s 5,000-acre development.
The network is designed to support Tatu City’s rapid expansion, ensuring new occupants are connected within 24 hours of moving in. With a core network operating at 10Gbps and the capability to scale to 100Gbps, Tatu Telecom’s infrastructure offers future-proof connectivity to homes, schools, and businesses alike.
Alex Kahu, Tatu City Group Head of Utilities and Deputy Country Head, emphasized that this milestone isn’t just about the numbers. “It’s about transforming lives by delivering reliable, high-speed connectivity to thousands of residents, students, and businesses. As Tatu City grows, Tatu Telecom will empower everyone to thrive in a digitally connected world,” he said.
A significant part of Tatu Telecom’s strategy includes its open-access network, enabling multiple internet service providers (ISPs) to serve residents and businesses. This flexibility has attracted a diverse clientele, from major call centres and corporate offices to educational institutions, all benefiting from robust, high-speed internet.
To ensure seamless customer experience, Tatu Telecom has introduced a 24-hour help desk. This service, driven by customer feedback, is particularly valuable for businesses with round-the-clock operations and residential clients requiring swift technical assistance. Plans are also underway to enhance cybersecurity with offerings like firewall as a service for homes and businesses.
In addition to serving Tatu City, the company is expanding its reach through initiatives like Fahari Link, which aims to provide affordable high-speed internet to underserved communities in Kiambu County. Fahari Link offers low-cost connections, daily internet plans, and public Wi-Fi, targeting nearly one million residents in areas such as Ruiru, Oaklands, and Murera.
With its scalable infrastructure, customer-first approach, and commitment to bridging the digital divide, Tatu Telecom is setting a benchmark for connectivity in Kenya. As Tatu City continues to grow, the company is poised to play a pivotal role in transforming the region into a hub of digital innovation and inclusion.
